My name is Taylor Perez and I am the face behind Taylor Perez Photography LLC. I am 32 years old, I was born and raised in Fairfax, VA. I have two amazing children, two sweet pups, and an amazingly supportive partner who has had my back since we first met in 2016 (off of match.com if you can believe it). I have been practicing photography for over 16 years now and actually went to college for photography. I received my BFA in Fine Art Photography from the Corcoran College of Art & Design at George Washington University with a minor in Creative Writing, and Education in 2015. Before starting my photography business in 2021 I was a teacher for 5+ years. I taught art, photography, general, and special education to grades prek-9th grade. And before that I worked within the gallery scene in Washington, DC with some amazing local artists.
I am very passionate about the arts, ever since I was a little girl I always loved art and the art world, and I always knew from early on that I wanted to be apart of the art world one way or another.
For those that don’t know, I recently went through a very traumatic time in my life and had to stop creating art, and practicing photography. I gave birth to my second child in August of 2022 and suffered severe complications from my birth. I had to have an emergency c-section and lost a lot of blood afterwards that caused my vital organs to shut down, specifically my kidneys. I lost all function within both of my kidneys and was in stage 5 kidney failure for almost a year. My kidneys were only functioning at 3% and dropping quickly everyday. I was on dialysis 3x a week to stay alive until I could receive the miracle of a kidney transplant. 2022 and 2023 were the hardest years of my life and my families life. I lost weight, I gained weight, I developed scars, I bruised up, I lost my entire body physically and mentally to end stage renal disease and wasn’t sure if I would make it out. Everyday I wondered if I was going to live on and many days I didn’t think I would. The reason why I am sharing all of this with you is because I want to be vulnerable with my clients, friends, family, and other fellow photographers, and artists. I want everyone to see that it is okay to lose yourself because you can and will gain yourself back. In April of 2023 I received a life changing and saving call that an anonymous donor had stepped forward to donate a kidney to me, and that they were a match. On Easter Monday (April 10th, 2023) I went into surgery to receive a new kidney. My life started over that day and ever since I have been trying to live my life to the fullest both within in work, and at home.
I 1000% believe that miracles can happen and that you can manifest what you want in life through putting good energy out into the world. I hope everyone can everyday see miracles/the miracles I have seen and I hope that you can manifest your goals, and dreams. Don’t ever give up, because I never did and I never will.
